The boys are officially just shy of being 2 1/2 yrs old. So many people ask if it gets any 'easier' with twins. If the truth be told, some things ARE easier (they are more independent, they are talking so they can express what they need/ don't like/like etc...., they play with each other...) but some things are harder. Different things replace the things you thought would never end. For instance, we NEVER thought the boys would walk (for you parents, you know what I mean when I say this). Well, not only do they walk, run, hop, skip and jump but they love to run AWAY from you when you are trying to get them dressed or want them to apologize to you or someone else for less than stellar behaviour. And the talking. Yes, I do love the fact the boys are able to talk up a storm but let me tell you when I hear one of my little boys say "I want to hit the dog!" in front of newly invited guests, I want to curl up under the table and die. Or when they say " GO AWAY MOMMY!" at the top of their lungs when I ask whether or not they would like more raspberries, I think "Bring back the days when all they would say is "Blabgoogoo looloonoonoodohoo".
It's challenging being a mom of twins. While I try to do things to try and help them become more independent, I find it challenging as they each seek out the same thing at the same time (and in their own way). The challenge is most apparent when I am by myself and I try and embrace their individuality and try to make it work so that everyone is happy. I don't know if that makes sense but it's sort of where my headspace is right now.
Anyways, for anyone that is reading this, thanks for reading my less than 'literary' style on reflecting my thoughts on motherhood. Your patience is appreciated:)
*For those that are wondering how the potty training is going well Aiden is 100% poop trained. I know. Strange but true. He hasn't had a poop accident since mid August! Now the pee is literally hit or miss but I'm sure we'll get there soon enough. As far as Andrew, he is perfectly happy wearing his diapers for the time being. We are going to try again with him in a couple of weeks so we'll see how that goes.

And so it begins....
We're back to school, the whole fan-damily. It's true. We had a great summer however, you unfortunately can't bottle that feeling and take small doses of it when you feeling tired and stressed. It's amazing how 1 hour into being back to work you feel the same weight of the world you felt before the vaction started. For me, it's about wanting to do the best for each and every child in my room, making sure they are truly happy and getting everything they can out of their experience at school. Then there are my boys and me wanting to make sure that I am my BEST self for them and not showing this side only to my students. Then there is the whole sleep thing. I don't know when I will ever get used to not getting a good night's sleep. Sometimes it's not b/c my boys are keeping me up, sometimes it's my mind not shutting off the world. The 1st 6 weeks of school is grueling and now that the boys are 2 1/2, it's even more so. I know I'll get through it but it doesn't get any easier, no matter how many years of experience I have behind me.
Anyways, I've decided that this year, I will find balance and make time for me. This means having 'date' nights with my hubby and doing something that's just for my enjoyment. Whether that's a hang with my friends or finding a hobby that I like. I think it's so important for us moms to not forget the person we were before motherhood (I know...it's hard!) but if we can somehow find that person again and bring that into our new roles, I think we can be better moms:) I am hoping this is the case for and in the meantime, I hope everyone is getting ready to embrace fall and saying a fond adieu to summer!
